A careful consideration of your website promotion strategy could very well be the thing that gets you to the top of the search engine listings. The problem is however, that many people are not sure where to begin. After all, we all know what a website is and we all, if vaguely, know how SEO works. But what comes first?
Put Yourself in your Customer’s Shoes
Among the very first thing that has to be considered within the website promotion strategy are the keywords that will be used. These are the words that identify not only the market or sector your business is in but also the very words people will use to find your website once it’s on the internet. The golden rule to remember when doing your keyword research is that the keywords will typically have to match the words web users use to find products like yours. In other words, put yourself in their shoes.
Next up is the naming of your site. The typical format of a website’s address is http://www.example.com – with the domain name being everything except the “www.” bit. If you do a search on the internet for any random product, you will notice that most of the websites listed at the top usually have one of the keywords you used to search, in the domain name. And that is exactly what you have to do. Once you’ve decided on the keywords, use one to make a domain name that matches your industry and/or products.
And finally, after all that hard work, it’s time to get down to business with the content creation and actual search engine optimization of your website. And that’s the A-B-C of website promotion strategy.
