The little patients at St. Louis Children’s Hospital looks forward to one-of-a-kind friends that walk on all fours.
Paws for Hope’s dogs prove that unconditional love can sometimes be found in a furry pal. Visiting with pets can bring on moments of forgetting about troubles and focusing on being happy if only for a moment.
As it turns out, these therapy dogs make a huge impact on the quality of life and health for these children.
Paws for Hope has been in business and making children smile for over 20 years. The dogs are chosen based on their temperament and go through rigorous testing before being allowed into the program.
After being discharged from the hospital, some dogs come back and visit the ones that made their stay more tolerable. That small dose of companionship can make anyone feel a lot better.
Do you have pets? What do you think it is about them that makes life better for many people. It’s great that kids get to be around happiness during a time that they might not be feeling their best. Let’s hear what you have to say!
