Starting your own business or being the boss of a big corporation can be difficult. Being your own boss may seem glamorous but it is stressful and challenging. At times, it can get so bad that you may even feel like throwing in the towel. Whenever you feel that way, don’t fret. Instead, take a moment to pause, take a deep breath, and turn to some motivation and inspiration to help you move past the challenge.
Below are some inspirational words of wisdom for women in business. Hopefully these can help you become a stronger businesswoman and keep things in perspective when the times get rough.
#1) ”Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”
Those poignant words were spoken by Albert Einstein. Everyone’s definition of success is different. However, giving and being a value to the team, to your business, and to your field of expertise can always be seen as being successful.
This quote is all about perspective. Don’t strive to “be the richest” instead, strive to be a valuable asset and to be a value to your team and the public. If you are providing a service or a product to the public, show them how it can make their lives better.
#2) ”You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
That was said by Wayne Gretzky. I believe in this quote whole-heartedly.
Along those same lines is another quote from Les Brown:
“Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears.”
Failure is a fear that a number of us have. Why try if you might fail? Because if you don’t try, there is no chance of succeeding.
#3) ”We become what we think about.”
Those wonderful words were spoken by Earl Nightingale. Of all of the quotes on this list, this one is my favorite. It is the reasoning behind my vision board. It is what I think about before I go to bed and when I wake up in the morning.
One of the simple changes that we can make in order to fulfill our dreams is to simply envision ourselves as being successful or being the person that we want to be.
#4) ”Winning isn’t everything, but wanting to win is.”
Vince Lombardi said those words. Your determination, strive, and commitment will lead you to success but you can’t just expect to be successful at your first attempt. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries in order to “win” or be successful. Your determination, vision, and your “wanting to win” must not waver.
#5) ”The best revenge is massive success.”
Frank Sinatra said that and while I don’t believe that revenge is something that we should all aim for, this is the best way to go about it, in my opinion. If you have people that doubt your success, turn what some people may see as disapproval or disappointment into something positive. Prove them wrong!
Along those same lines is a quote that I’m taking from Vincent Van Gogh:
“If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint,’ then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.”
Our worst critics are usually ourselves and if we let our doubting and our second-guessing get the best of us, we won’t get to accomplish our dreams.
Silence those doubts by proving yourself and those naysayers wrong.
#6) ”When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.”
Helen Keller (the woman that spoke those words) knew of tragedy and closed doors and yet she continued to push forward. These days, the economy is just getting back onto their feet. Still, some people may find themselves without a job. In instances like this, you shouldn’t be looking longingly at that closed door. Look for a new opportunity.
#7) ”It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”
What does Confucius mean? He knows that when you take on a new challenge (like starting your own business) it can be a slow road to success but no matter how slowly you are moving, you are still moving and that is better than standing still or going back.
These are my favorite inspirational words that help me put things into perspective when I feel like something might fail or if I am facing a new challenge. I have some of them written on my vision board. I have others written on Post-It’s that I have tacked up around my office. If you find that some of these quotes really speak to you, then write them down and post them up where they will help you.
