No one in this world understands the excruciating pain of being on a long phone call like call center agents. One has to have a great deal of patience in order to survive each and every working day in this type of job.

I spent nearly 10 years of my life in this industry and it taught me a surprising number of lessons that made my life better than it could ever be.

How To Stay Positive

1. Make an effort to brighten up someone else’s day with a little bit of kindness and a little bit of enthusiasm

I started as an agent and literally, I made other people’s problems my own. I provided solutions from the simplest concerns to the most complex issues; from dealing with fraudulent transactions to launching a new browser.

Getting in touch with my inner peace is just something I normally do every day, especially when I let a client vent for hours to me with an attentive ear.

When I became a manager, my responsibility wasn’t only limited to improving my team’s overall performance, but also to help them cope with stress.

2. Every interaction provides an opportunity for us to become slightly better people

I remember a time when I had to deal with an unruly agent who started slamming his fists really hard on his desk to get everyone’s attention.

He was dealing with some personal issues and couldn’t help but take it out on his customer.

3. Every small thought or action you do can have a huge impact on the people around you

Of course, I sanctioned his behavior. However, I also had to make him realize why his actions were unacceptable and why he shouldn’t allow his problems to affect his work.

The world does not revolve around us. For all we know, other people are dealing with their own crap too, so it is unfair to spread ill will and negativity.

4. Create positive interactions with a little bit of love and a little bit of kindness in your heart

In “How to Keep Our Differences From Tearing Us Apart,” writer Whitney Haldeman explains that it is human nature to be interested in scandals, controversies, and intrigues.

In social media, most people respond to negative things and some feel empowered to take their personal issues to a public audience. However, if we do things with more love instead of reacting on a shallow level, we are in fact making a better decision.

I agree with Haldeman when she states that expanding our minds beyond the capacity of our own understanding is the best thing we can do.

5. Always keep a positive mindset by following a healthy lifestyle

Your body and your mind are connected, so struggling with negativity has physical effects on you in the same manner that an unhealthy lifestyle affects your mental health.

To help you make wiser choices, here are some tips on how to kick-start a healthy lifestyle.

I believe that these simple practices could result in healing and a happier mindset.

6. Simple awareness of what is essential could save us from having many more bad days

New information and knowledge on important things can lead to a safer and more secure life.

Let’s take for example the recent change in the credit card industry. Were you aware that 6 months ago, Mastercard & Visa embedded a special computer chip on new credit cards to eliminate counterfeit fraud?

Whether you’re a merchant or a buyer, it’s important that you know how to deal with bogus credit card charges.

7. You should care about how you look no matter what, no matter when & no matter where

Believe it or not, one of the keys to having a better day is to look good. Looking horrendous reflects your mood, your overall vibes, and your life in general.

Creating a good impression could get you a better job and attract more opportunities. Who would want to do business with you if you look like crap? And I’m sure you won’t be able to make a good impression if you look like a witch doll or a clown with your makeup.

We can transform our lives by taking a step towards our own wellness, one small deed at a time.

Whatever you do, do it nicely. Be polite and try not to hurt someone else’s feelings. Also, you shouldn’t let small issues knock you out.

When you face the world each day with a smile and kindness in your heart, you’ll become a better person and you’ll start to have better days.
