What does it mean to be a woman of substance? Do you envision someone who is famous? Or do you think of a woman who is successful in her chosen career?
You can be the most popular girl in the world or you can have a lot of money in your bank account, but that doesn’t automatically mean that you have “substance.”
For me, to become a woman of substance is not about being well-known, it is about being worth knowing. It means being a woman of positive influence, living your life with meaning and purpose and putting your best foot forward all the time.
“We delight in the beauty of a butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.”
This inspiring quote by Dr. Maya Angelou reminds me of three important things:
• That behind every woman’s success is a tough and a difficult journey that shaped her mind and character
• That achieving true beauty is a long and painful process
• That success doesn’t just happen overnight
Ladies, I think you will all agree with me when I say that there’s nothing more flattering than being known as a woman of substance. So, to help you become victorious in your life’s big battles and understand the essence of true beauty, here are 4 practices that you must do every day.
You need to have a broad perspective and always keep an open mind about other people’s point of view.
Life involves a series of decisions and actions. Without the right attitude and a clear frame of mind, it would be a real challenge to come up with good choices and create brilliant game plans.
In the piece “Why You Should Meet Your SO in Real Life, Not on a Dating App,” writer Paul Hudson raises a good point by saying that the way we perceive the world determines the way we live our lives.
There are many factors that can influence the way we translate our experiences such as environment, culture and status in life. In addition, our illusions, stress and self-defeating thoughts can easily make us blind to understand what’s really going on.
I understand and respect the writer’s opinion when he said that “cyber magic doesn’t exist” but I don’t exactly agree with him because I met my husband online and we’ve been happily married for almost 3 years now.
The bottom line is that you shouldn’t judge someone based on how they view things.
Always choose what is important and what is right over what is easy.
Try to see the big picture, ladies and always try to look beyond immediate gratification.
We make a lot of decisions every day but if you want to live a significant life, you should be able to come up with “informed” decisions. The word “informed” makes the difference.
Writer Elle Harikleia presents a good example in her piece “Stop Thinking Salary, Start Thinking Compensation.”
If you’re looking for a good-paying job or if you’re not that happy with your salary, you may want to consider other important things that come with your compensation package such as:
• Commission and Bonus
• Health Care benefits
• Paid Time-offs
• Retirement and Pension plans
• Car/Transportation/Parking allowance
• Company Stock Options
Choosing the important things puts you on the right track so you can move towards where you want to be and where you need to be.
Don’t be afraid to speak your mind and fight for what you believe is right.
A woman of substance has a strong personality and character, not only in the way she dresses and presents herself to the world but also in the way she behaves when facing a tough situation.
Be fierce in going after your dreams and in fighting for your happiness. Show your power to its fullest extent and never hold back.
According to Lloyd Burnett, there are three steps to access your full ability to create a life of abundance, love and success.
By clearing out your fears and limiting beliefs, identifying your real intentions and developing a healthy relationship with the things that you want, you will be able to use your full power to achieve your desires.
Pursue causes that make the world a better place. Be a part of the solution instead of the problem.
Dedicate a part of your life in helping other people open their eyes to the beauty of the world and to inspire them to make a difference.
Learn from the stories of the most powerful and influential women like media dynamo J.K. Rowling.
Many books have been written about how to succeed in life but none about how to fail. In this short video, best-selling author J.K. Rowling talks about her own failures to inspire and help others succeed in their lives.
You see, ladies, it doesn’t matter how many times you’ve failed in life. What can make you a woman of substance is your attitude towards your experiences, how you make meaning to find a cause outside of yourself and how you continually evolve to become a better version of yourself.
