Every now and then we all get into these wardrobe mishaps that have us wondering if we were thinking straight when we got dressed that morning. Whatever your situation may be when it comes to wardrobe malfunctions, they can be easily solved with these 5 tips.

#1) Incorrectly Hemmed Pants

Have you ever hemmed your own pants? If so then you either know the proper way to do it or perhaps you’ve had a go at it without implementing the proper techniques.

If you are in the latter group then whatever you do, don’t cut off the extra length. A good tailor should be able to properly hem your pants without compromising the original hemline, according to Guillermo Molina, owner of Guillermo Couture in New York City.

With good tailoring, if your pants are too long, then you will probably have to cut off a bit of fabric above the hemline, then reattach the original hems with thread that matches the denim. Or you can fold the hem up, accordion style and sew it into place so that that the original finish seam is in plain view. With jeans, this method works, but never tuck in jeans to preserve the hem, it looks very strange, as the yellow seam is what gives it it’s casual appearance.

#2) A Gaping Blouse

Many women who are amply endowed are cursed with this ubiquitous issue. You know the scenario- your favorite was dried once too often and how it fits too snug and the buttons are hanging on for dear life.

According to TLC’s What Not to Wear, Clinton Kelly, “ You don’t want your coworkers staring at your chest, waiting for a button to pop off onto the conference table,” says Kelly. Instead, sew a small piece of Velcro between the buttons or use double-stick tape, so that your shirt will stay solid and flush against your skin. While buttons will remain attached, your lady bits will be far from view.

#3) Cropped Pants with Boots

Although this look has came into trend at some point, overall it can be an odd look if not executed correctly. Capri pants are now available in thicker fabrics for winter, although they are sometimes viewed as a summer staple.

Whatever you do, avoid donning capris with booties or any low boot, as the break up can make you appear dowdy, breaking up your silhouette.

Instead wear high boots that completely cover your calves so that there is continuity and a more elongated effect.

#4) Peekaboo Lingerie

This has got to be one of the biggest wardrobe offenders that embarrasses the most demure of the bunch. A simple rule to follow is that you should never wear white undies under white clothes. In fact red or any bright color under white is a big no-no.

If you want your unmentionables to go unnoticed then go for a bra and panties that are close to your skin tone. It’s best to simply invest lingerie that is nude, rather than buying a bunch of colorful underwear so that you are ready for any occasion without having to worry about sitting by the washing machine waiting for your dirty nudes to wash before going out.

By having a bunch of nudes on hand, the problem of a peekaboo look is swiftly solved.

#5) Visible Tags

I’m not gonna lie. I’ve had this issue, many a times with scarves, until I realized that it actually isn’t the ideal style and that no one is really interesting in reading what my clothes are made of or how to wash them.

Throw caution to the wind and snip the tags on scarves. If you have a very high quality scarf and you think you may forget how to wash them, send them to the dry cleaners. For all others, a simple hand washing and hanging will likely do the trick.

Be careful of tags sewn directly in the seam though. With these you’ll want to cut as close to the seam as possible so the least amount of tag is noticeable. Investing in a seam ripper is also great for these unsightly add-ons.

Wardrobe malfunctions happen to the best of us so you shouldn’t think that your body is out of whack simply because a button pops off. Things are bound to happen and nothing short of a good tailoring can fit any wardrobe problem.

Ripped seams and popping buttons are so annoying and seem to happen at the worse times. Do you have any simple solutions to fashions biggest problems? Have you ever had an embarrassing moment in which your blouse popped open or perhaps your tag was showing at the wrong time? You’ve likely had your share of funny experiences and we’d like to hear about them!
