Before my friend Karen quit her job of 10 years, she told me that she wasn’t unhappy or discontented at all with how her life was going. In fact, she felt a little sad for leaving people who became part of her life. However, she just couldn’t resist the urge anymore to expand her horizons and listen to her inner calling to do something bigger.

So, she followed her dreams, started her own business and after 3 years, she earned her first million. But of course, it wasn’t that easy. I just cut the story short and didn’t include all the hardships that she had to go through. I also failed to mention that she almost went bankrupt in the process, had to sell her car, and moved into a shoe box of an apartment.

Despite all that, Karen never doubted herself. She knew what she needed to sacrifice and change to do more, to grow, and to live a life of following her passion.

Ladies, if you’re ready to step your life game up, here are some reasons why highly passionate people manage to live healthier and happier lives.

They Always Choose What Is Best Over What Is Easy

To satisfy their urge to grow personally and thirst for learning, they explore new territories and push boundaries, regardless if it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable, because they know that it’s always worth the risks.

They are fearless people. They don’t mind doing something that scares them because they know what they need to evolve, to keep their life interesting and to get the best out of life.

In the piece “If You Always Play It Safe, Are You Really Living,” writer Maz Dela Cerna explains the importance of taking risks to follow your dreams and to live a life with no regrets.

Ladies, if you keep on playing it safe and continue to do what is easy, you will not be able to live a life of passion. You will not be able to conquer your dreams and find your purpose.

They Have an Internal Need to Win

They are very competitive. They put their heart in everything they do and they have a sheer amount of drive necessary to make a difference. They refuse to stop striving to do better.

In this short video, Christine Johnson, president of non-profit talent acquisition and recruitment firm, talks about the importance of letting passion drive your success.

In my opinion, if you want to be better in life, business and love, like these highly passionate people, then you can’t be afraid to fail, you hate the idea of losing to the point that you’ll do whatever it takes to win, and you seek mentors and leverage your expertise.

They Have a Balanced Life

Driven people follow their excitement but they are proportionate in their exertion of energy. They may have a strong desire to achieve, but not at the expense of their health, spirituality and well-being.

They have a special way of balancing things. They use their sadness to urge themselves to take action, they can turn uncertainty into possibility and they maintain a certain degree of worry that is enough to drive them into prioritizing their most important tasks.

They Have the Right Expectations

Since they know that success doesn’t come easy, they work hard to follow their passion and are always prepared to take action. And because they invest a good amount of time, effort and energy in their endeavors, they expect results and they expect to be treated right. They always deliver what is expected of them. They give their best and at the same time, they never settle for less than what they deserve.

So, if you want to live a purpose driven life, make it a point to deliver what is expected of you, take pride in what you do and never allow others to make you feel inferior.

In love, for instance, it is only fair to expect your partner to make you feel fabulous, loved and special because you’re investing your precious time on him and you’re giving him your all.

If your man doesn’t make you feel good about yourself, is manipulative and is unable to make an emotional commitment, then it’s time to put the brakes on that relationship. Find someone who will treat you right, who will inspire you to fulfill your full potential and not some narcissist who just uses you to satisfy his ego and demands you prove yourself worthy of his affections all the time.

Passion brings you happiness, gives you purpose and keeps your life interesting. Also, it saves you from getting stuck, it pushes you to be the best even when being an average will do, and it teaches you to hold on a little longer when giving up seems to be the easiest choice. So, do yourself a favor. Find your passion, create a driving force and live a life without regrets.
